Australian Aerospace signs Turreted Gun System support contract with Nexter Systems for ARH Tiger helicopter

Australian Aerospace and Nexter Systems today signed a five year agreement to provide support services for the Turreted Gun System used with the Australian Army’s fleet of Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopters (ARH).

The contract, signed at the Le Bourget Air Show in Paris is one of several key subcontracts Australian Aerospace has awarded as the prime contractor for the ARH Tiger in the establishment of a comprehensive support arrangement for the Australian fleet.

Several successful trials of the Turreted Gun System on the ARH Tiger have been conducted. The Defence Material Organisation granted full service release of the System on the ARH Tiger in October 2008.

Reflecting on the program’s milestone, Dr Jens Goennemann, Australian Aerospace Chief Executive said “Australian Aerospace is proud to provide strategic support to Australia’s long term national security. Our agreement with Nexter Systems strengthens our ability to offer a ‘world’s best solution’ to the Australian Defence Force”.

Jean-Patrick Baillet, Nexter Systems Executive Vice President of Operation said “Nexter Systems’ support of Australian Aerospace’s local ARH program heightens our commitment to providing capability to Australia’s national defence”.

Under the contract signed today, Nexter Systems will provide Australian Aerospace with technical, logistics, repair and supply support services, for the Turreted Gun System in support of the ARH Tiger helicopters. A number of the helicopters are already deployed to two new squadrons of the Army’s Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter Regiment; the 161st and 162nd.
